The Fresno State student who allegedly posted a threat of on-campus violence using a popular social media app Monday is out of jail today. 18 year-old freshman Christian Pryor has posted bail after being arrested on felony charges of making a criminal threat. The Fresno State football walk-on was held in the Fresno County Jail on $20,000 bond.
At around noon Monday Pryor allegedly posted a message on the app Yik Yak that he would shoot someone on-campus at 3:00 PM. The post was shared widely among students, and with the Fresno State Police Department. Police contacted Yik Yak officials who provided information that led authorities to Pryor's location, and his subsequent arrest. Classes were not canceled Monday, though many students stayed home or left campus after news of the threat spread.
In a statement released today, Fresno State officials say Pryor has been removed from the football team and that they intended on "keeping the individual suspected of posting the threat off of campus."
According to Fresno State Police Chief David Huerta, Pryor admitted on Monday to sending the threat. It's unknown if Pryor had access to the M4 carbine that he allegedly referenced in the post.
