A Capitol Fourth
Monday July 4, 2016 - 8:00 PM

This July 4, America's national Independence Day celebration broadcasts live from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol. Hosted by Emmy Award-winning TV personality Tom Bergeron and NPR's Korva Coleman, the event features performances from some of America's best known celebrities and musical artists including:

  • Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Kennedy Center honoree, and iconic Motown star Smokey Robinson
  • Singer and songwriter Kenny Loggins, who has won two Grammys and has garnered twelve platinum records
  • Glee and The Wiz Live! star and Dancing with the Stars winner Amber Riley
  • Multiple platinum selling pop singer and songwriter, and 2015 Teen Choice Award nominee Rachel Platten
  • The Broadway cast of the pulse-throbbing hit musical On Your Feet, which is based on the lives and music of Gloria and Emilio Estefan
  • Sutton Foster, star of Broadway (Anything Goes, Thoroughly Modern Millie) and television, currently appearing in TV Land's hit show Younger
  • The National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of top pops conductor Jack Everly

The show is capped off with a rousing rendition of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" complete with live cannon fire provided by The United States Army Presidential Salute Battery, an audience favorite and now A Capitol Fourth tradition.
