Valley Public Radio To Celebrate Ribbon Cutting For New Broadcast Center

Valley Public Radio/FM89 will celebrate the official opening of their new location in the Clovis Technology Park on Temperance and Alluvial Avenues with a catered ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, September 21st.  The event will commence at 10AM and feature speakers including Board Chairperson, David Parker, Clovis Mayor Nathan Magsig, and Don Howard, CEO of the James Irvine Foundation. Ribbon cutting will follow after the presentation, along with tours of the new broadcast center.

In December of 2013, Valley Public Radio purchased the parcel in the Technology Park, and broke ground in May 2015 for construction.  The generosity of donors made possible the purchase of the land and the building of a customized broadcast center. Supervised and built by general contractor, Zumwalt Construction, Inc., the new center meets Title 24 regulations for energy efficiency, is the first of its kind in Clovis, and features the most up-to-date broadcast equipment. The project came in on time and under budget.

“We are grateful for our new home and enthusiastic about sharing it with the community,” says Mariam Stepanian, President and General Manager. “This public media space is not only a place for Valley Public Radio to grow, but a place for the community to experience musical performances, hear up-to-date local news reports, and listen to national and world NPR coverage. Our intention is to serve as a gathering place for the community, to inspire journalism students, and engage the residents of our region.”
