Valley Edition: June 6 - Hmong Resettlement 40 Years Later; Drought Avocados;

https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/

On this week's show – it’s been 40 years since the Hmong people came to California’s San Joaquin Valley. We’ll find out how the local community is planning on marking the occasion and hear the story of one family’s journey from Laos to California. Also on the program, Valley Edition Host Joe Moore leads a panel discussion on the resettlement with former Fresno City Councilman Blong Xiong, Author and Poet Soul Vang and Lar Yang with the Hmong Story 40 Project.

We’ll also learn how local school districts are spending the new money they’re getting to help disadvantaged kids succeed, and why some say they’re not following the spirit of the law. We’ll also learn how California’s avocado farmers are adapting to the drought, and more.
