On Valley Edition: Drought; High Speed Rail; Buck Owens Book

This week on Valley Editionwe delve into the topics of drought in California, transgender law, high speed rail and more.

Starting off the program Valley Edition Host Joe Moore speaks with meteorologistSteve Johnson about 2013 marking California’s driest year on record. The two talk weather conditions, water and what 2014 may hold for the San Joaquin Valley.  Johnson is the owner of Steve Johnson and Associates and is with Atmospheric Group International.

Later in the program, Moore interviews Fresno Bee Reporter Tim Sheehan about California’s $68 billion high speed rail project. Sheehan, who covers about high speed rail, talks about the rails history, current state and future growth.

Ending the program, Moore is joined by Owens and Grammy nominated producer and author Randy Poe to talk about the country music giant Buck Owens. The two talk about Poe’s new book titled “Buck 'Em! The Autobiography of Buck Owens.”

Joe Moore is the President and General Manager of KVPR / Valley Public Radio. He has led the station through major programming changes, the launch of KVPR Classical and the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership the station was named California Non-Profit of the Year by Senator Melissa Hurtado (2019), and won a National Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative reporting (2022).
