An Average Of 15,000 Fresno Homes Breaking Lawn Water Rules

On days when lawn watering is banned in the city of Fresno, an average of 15,000 homes are watering anyway. That’s according to a new review of water use by the city’s public works department.

On just those three days, as much as 22-million gallons of water are used each day watering lawns around the city.

The public works department is going before the city council tomorrow to discuss steps Fresno could take to help mitigate the effects of the drought.

Of those people water on banned days, nearly 3-thousands watered every day…meaning they are likely watering seven days a week.

The city council could also consider moving to stage three water regulations which would further cut back lawn watering to one day a week.

Fresno, like every other city in the valley, is under new pressure to decrease water use since Governor Jerry Brown announced to the first every state wide water restrictions on April first.
